KW Walking Classic Overview:

• This is the fifth year for the KW Walking Classic and it is the only chip-timed competitive walking Race in Canada. 

• The KW Walking Classic takes place on Sunday, September 23, 2012.

• Visit us on Expo Day September 22nd from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Waterloo Public Square, 75 King Street South, Waterloo:
  • Pick up your Race Kit
  • Come and see us at the Teams table and enter the Early Registration draw for a Gift Basket from Tisket-Tasket Baskets valued at $75.00

• The Square is open for registration at 6:00am on Race Day.

• Start Time for each Race is as follows:
  • 1/2 Marathon -- 7:00am
  • 10K -- 9:00am
  • 5K -- 9:05am

Team Awards:

 Most Funds Raised

      -Award will go to the Team who raises the most funds in support of mental health and fitness

Team Spirit

      -Award will go to the Team who demonstrates the most spirit and enthusiasm.

Best Half Marathon Team Time

• This Award is performance based.  The finishing places of the Teams' best three scorers will be added together.
• The Team with the lowest total of their best three scorers wins.
• A tie will be broken by adding the finishing times of the Teams' best three scorers.
• Teams are not limited to scorers only.  You might hear 4 to walk, 3 to score.  For example, with the number of scorers set at 3, a team of 4 can compete on the same basis as a team of 40.
• This system rewards team consistency and depth rather than individual stars. For example, if a team finishes 1 - 3 - 22 they score 26 points.  If another team finishes 7 - 8 - 10 they score 25 points and wins.
